The only way is up ...
Towers did it the hard way scraping the minimum requirement of 1 point away at Daventry Drayton Grange in Tower's last game of the season. The game was really winner takes all as if Daventry had won it would have seen them favourites to take second spot. Ristee made hard work of it going behind early on and spurning several good chances before getting level at the interval. In the scond half a wonder goal from Sean Wesley gave Towers the comfort of knowing that Daventry would need 2 goals in the final stages. Daventry had doen the maths too sending all their giants up front and pinning Towers in their own half. Getting a late eaqualiser mad the final few minutes tough to play through and nearly impossible to watch for the Ristee faithful. Fianlly the ref gave the final whistle and the celebrations could begin! The home side were gracious in defeat and invited us into the bar for a drink, now we have the end of season do to look forward to....

Balloon News UPDATE...
During the week Ristee Towers received an envelope with a tag from the charity day and a post card from Coogee Beach Australia. An almost unbelievable feat of aeronautics and prevailing winds has got one of our balloons half the way around the world. We'd all like to thank whoever found the balloon for taking the effort to send us notification and love to find out more if you'd like to send us an email.
Last week RTFC received a kind letter from the Mayor of Feignies, France who had received one of our charity balloons released by Mark Seaman on 19th August. This ballon had made the long trip of over 300 miles from Woodford to Feignies, we're still hoping that there might be some even further afield....
Charity day ...
Sunday 19th August saw weeks worth of preparation and effort pay off in a fund raising even held to raise funds for Kettering General Hospital's Special Baby Care Unit. The day was to support Micky & Charlene and those who have helped them. Held at Tower's ground at Woodford WMC stalls were setup selling cakes, sweets, running games and tombolas, there was also a bouncy castle for the kids and a BBQ. The day was punctuated by 2 games of football. The first was a fantastic game for those who have been at the club a few seasons, Towers Today Vs Towers' Legends. Old friends and familiar faces were present to blow away a few cobwebs in a game which was full of humour and incident ending in a narrow win for the current squad. The second game of the day saw Towers Vs Micky's XI. Before this game Micky and Charlene released 100 baloons each with a special message on it. Some of these have been found as far as Borehamwood and some of those found have kindly sent donations to the cause.
Thanks go out to every one who helped, contributed, sponsored, donated and supported.
Well done to all - the day was a great success raising in excess of £2000 for the cause.
New Season...
New faces, plans and goals mixed in with some old faces, foundations and structure makes 2007-8 season one of the most exciting in Ristee's history. Manager Dave Parsons has brought some fresh players to the club giving us more options, more quality and more depth throughout the squad. The summer has shown the way Towers operates with the highly successful fun day to raise money for KGH's baby unit incorporating the Towers legends! Famous Ristee names Hadaway, Noble, Protty, Wake, Buttar, Hornbuckle, Thres, Thompson, Walbridge and some bloke called Parsons lined up and were part of one of the most fun games the Towers faithful have witnessed. A positive pre-season has now ended and the season started for real with new ideas firmly in place and starting to work.
Bright end of Season ...
All we knew, as usual, is what day the end of season was and what time we had to meet. It was only once we'd been on the coach for 3 hours that we finally knew for sure that our destination was Brighton. Then we were given the envelopes containing what we had to procure and where we had to end up before being left on the seafront. The afternoon was spent in and out of pubs wilst trying to accumulate the items on our lists - some easy like rock and postcards some more tricky like something yellow and blue. We could not buy this item directly which added an extra dimension to the hunt. Some were won, some 'borrowed' and some begged but everyone made it to the restaurant laden with treasure and starving. A full italian meal was laid on and once the plates were cleared the presentations began. The prizes were won, top scorer, manager's player, player's player and many more -some were nailed on certanties and some were surprises. The presentations ended with the usual silliness and chaos of the secretaries awards. Those in the know, know. Those who don't will soon find out! Phil won't forget his display of gymnastics, Micky is rumoured to sleep in his T-Shirt and Jimmy has a whole season's worth of sweeping up ahead of him.
Season ends on a high ...
The last game of this season brought to close a season of rebuilding and a performance on the pitch to show the long suffering Towers supporters what could have been but also what may be to come. The visitors, Punjab United, currently on a hot streak of form and with a cup final on the horizon were going to be tough opposition. The previous league meeting saw Towers steal 3 points from the glebe, and roles were reversed with Towers unlucky to come away with nothing at home.(see the match report for more). The game started on a high with Towers player leading the Ristee Kids out for a photo opportunity in the sun. This season also sees Paul Briggs stepping down from the squad after many seasons with Towers. We all hope that Paul will continue to be around the club despite rumours of a relocation to Newquay....
